Built Crewe Locomotive Works.
Shortened fuel tank & full size water tank.
Four upper and four lower air filters on non-BIS side, three upper and four lower on BIS side.
Tripcock fitted (Eastern Region modification).
Time between last Classified repair and withdrawal: ?? months.
Time between withdrawal and scrapping: 15 months.

Allocations

The frames for D5060 were laid down at Crewe Works during October 1959, D5060 was new to March (31B) on January 2nd 1960. Further transfers were:

October 1960 to Longsight (9A) on loan.
November 1960 to Willesden (1A).
November 1960 to Longsight (9A).
January 1961 to Crewe (5A).
February 1961 to Willesden (1A).
March 1961 to Finsbury Park (34G).
July 1966 to London Division (D01) on loan, made permanent August 1966.
April 1967 to Stoke Division (D05).
February 1969 - to store (at Chester).
April 1969 - reinstated to Stoke Division (D05).
May 1973 to Crewe.
October 4th 1975 - withdrawn.

Renumbered March 30th 1974.

After withdrawal 24060 was stored at Crewe until September 7th 1976 when it moved to Swindon Works and was broken up by the last week of January 1977.

D5060 worked the 08.05 Sheringham - North Walsham on July 20th.

On December 11th Longsight contained 68 locomotives including D211, D224, D230, D294, D308, D3765 - D3770, D5060, D5081, D5083, D5134, D5135, D5137, D5139, D5141 - D5143.

1961
On April 4th D5060 worked the 17.05 Broad Street - Gordon Hill.

On the morning of July 28th D5060 was on empty coaching stock duty at Kings Cross.

1963
Condition July: green livery with small yellow warning panels, curved upper corners, panel does not cover frame level stripe, gap between bottom of yellow warning panel & stripe; full size water tank, shortened fuel tank, trip cock equipment fitted, steam style shed plate on cabfront.

On the evening of September 5th D5060 was light engine at Holloway.

1965
On the morning of November 23rd D5060 was at Ferme Park with down empty coaching stock.

1966
Locomotives noted at Kings Cross on the morning of January 10th included:
D5062 with passenger stock for the down West Riding, to be worked by D9007
D5057 with passenger stock for the down Talisman, worked by D9016
D5060, D5070 & D5909 on empty coaching stock duties.

D5060 worked the 16.58 Moorgate - Hertford North on February 8th.

On the evening of February 11th noted at Kings Cross on empty coaching stock duty were D5054, D5060, D5610 & D5651.

On the morning of March 13th D5060 was at Kings Cross with empty coaching stock.

On the evening of March 16th D5060 was at Kings Cross with the stock for the 20.20 Kings Cross - Edinburgh.

On the morning of June 3rd D5060, D5061, D5070 & D5094 were on empty coaching stock duty at Kings Cross.

On the morning of June 13th the Kings Cross empty coaching stock duties included D5050, D5060, D5061, D5611, D5613 & D5646.

On the morning of July 18th D5060 & D5071 were noted at Ferme Park.

1967
The 06.45 Holyhead - Euston on February 16th was noted arriving at its destination almost an hour late behind D5060 & E3005, the latter having failed at Tring.

On the afternoon of March 15th D5060 was light engine south of Rugby.

On the morning of September 7th & 14th D5060 was stabled at Crewe.

1969
Condition (no date): green livery with small yellow warning panels, curved upper corners, covers frame level stripe; blanking plates fitted, two-rung bogie mounted footstep.

On the afternoon of April 26th 5145 & 5060 were light engines at Stoke on Trent.

On the early afternoon of May 4th 5060 was shunting a breakdown crane at Crewe.

On June 7th a Manchester Piccadilly - Aberystwyth special was worked to Crewe by E3107, then 5060 & 5080 working the Crewe - Aberystwyth - Crewe legs, with E3124 back to Manchester.

1970
On July 27th 5060 was shunting at Port Sunlight.

Condition July: blue/yellow livery (outshopped Derby April 1970), gangway doors present, three electrification flashes on cab front, straight sided sandboxes, three rung bogie mounted footsteps, blanking plates fitted, hand/footholds sheeted over, valencing present apart from above the battery boxes, shortened fuel tank, full size water tank.

1972
The Derby Locomotive Works snagsheet dated November 3rd for Class 46 No.192 included the comments that 5060 had been cleared.

On August 18th 24060 was stabled at Machynlleth.

1975
On May 15th 24060 was noted at Manchester Victoria.

On August 26th 24060 was noted at Barmouth with a down freight.

24060 was withdrawn on October 4th 1975.
