Put into service by Messrs Miguel M. de Pinillos, Cadiz, Spain for service between the Canary Islands and Spanish & French Mediterranean ports for the transport of fruit, particularly bananas.

Originally two ships Ebro & Sil, later two more ordered about 1930 with similar engines and from the same builder for the same shipping company.
